Psalm 37:4
This verse is lettered in bookhand with black ink. The word "LORD" is centered and highlighted with gold ink. The bookhand style is elongated with ascenders and descenders reaching up and down farther than normal, spacing between the lines is wider than normal, and the lettering is done in an oval, all to give a sense of elegance. Extra swirls were added to the word "Delight" to characterize its meaning.
Story Behind the Art
This is the favorite verse of my oldest daughter, Rebekah. I so much appreciate her desire to please the Lord and have Him as her audience of one. To communicate the message of delight, purity, and elegance, I spaced the lines apart further than normal, chose the roundhand style with its upright nature, used flourishes to give emphasis to the word delight, and framed the lettering in an oval. Rebekah has exemplified a servants heart in our family and in our churches in Ohio and Texas. We gave this to Rebekah for her High School graduation, and also reduced it for use on her invitations. We anticipate Gods continued blessing on Rebekah as she continues to delight in the Lord.
