The verse begins with an enlarged gold and black Lombardic capital "B". The rest of the lettering in this verse is done in Fraktur. All references to God are done in gold, outlined with black, and then shaded.

It is only as we truly know who God is that we can have genuine peace, but until we slow down, become still, and seek to know Him through His Word, we will not have His peace. Jesus said in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Paul wrote in Philippians 3:7-10, "But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, and be found in him, not having my own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;".

  • Story Behind the Art

Jane Glosser is an interior designer who loves Scripture. She headed up a project for Trinity Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant, TX, to display large framed verses (22"x28") in their new foyer. Their strategy was to have church members volunteer to sponsor the lettering and display of one of their favorite verses. I had the privilege of doing these verses. This is one of the pieces that was matted and framed.
